Who's "Pals" are Who?

Sarah Palin has finally remembered that she reads the New York Times. And, as a matter of fact she "read a copy" just yesterday. Unfortunately it seems that she read just enough to be able to unintentionally - or intentionally - reach the conclusion that Barack Obama "pals around with terrorists". As has been reported widely, Barack Obama's ties to William Ayers have been completely overblown by the radical right.

As Paul Begala noted on Meet The Press this morning, McCain and Palin are on a slippery slope as McCain has plenty of skeletons in his own closet and he'd better be careful. Most American's don't remember The Keating 5 and what was behind all of that but it is an issue that Obama could certainly go on the offensive with.

Now, according to Begala back in the 1980s John McCain sat on the board of the extremist "U.S. Council for World Freedom" an ultra-conservative right wing organization which was affiliated with the "World Anti-communist League" which the Anti-Defamation League said "has increasingly become a gathering place, a forum, a point of contact for extremists, racists and anti-semites".

More on World Anti-Communist League is here, Read the bio of Gen. John Singlaub and note his ties to the Iran-Contra affair.
